About Me

I graduated with my Bachelor's in Elementary Education with Minors in Spanish, Science, and Structures of the Discipline in 2005.  In May of that year I started teaching in Saline Area Schools as a third grade teacher.  Over the last 13 years in the classroom I've taught a wide variety of subjects: 3rd grade classroom teacher, 5th grade classroom teacher, Exploratory Language Class: (Spanish, French, and German), Quest (Science) for K-3, 7th and 8th grade Spanish, Academic Support, and finally Elementary Spanish.  During that time I ran after school language clubs, and spearheaded the development of both the Exploratory Language class and the Elementary Spanish program in my district.  In addition to that I also received my Masters in the Art of Teaching, completed my +30 (with a focus on Spanish and the Brain), won a Group Chair Award from the Sierra Club with my 5th grade class, ran a Science Fair, and was awarded several grants for initiatives at school.  I also found time to have 3 wonderful children.  Currently I am the department head for the Elementary Spanish program in Saline Area Schools. I love collaborating with other educators, and talking about the neuroscience behind how we learn, and language education.
